Gary has a Bachelors of Science, Business Management, University of New Orleans, and a JD/MBA, Tulane University

In over 30 years’ experience, earned a reputation in industry for relationship-building, objectivity, fairness, practicality, and for being based in fact and reason.  Known for finding sustainable solutions and resolving conflict in extremely difficult situations while respecting, maintaining and enhancing relationships.  Also known for developing talent on both sides (Management and Union) – continues to actively mentor both Management and Union talent.


As Labor Vice-President, reported directly to the Chief Human Resources Officer and was responsible for the Labor agenda covering all 50,000+ U.S.-based employees.  Was responsible for 28 contracts including Teamsters, BCTGM, IAM, and UFCW.  There were no strikes during 11+ years in the role.  Personally oversaw all arbitrations, both contract and discharge to ensure fairness and fact-based resolutions.  As a result, developed strong relationships with national Union leaderships.


Prior to joining Frito-Lay, was employed by Shell Oil/Chemical Company for more than 12 years in roles mostly in a unionized location represented by OCAW.  Served as VP and President of the Texas Labor-Management council (FMCS supported) which encouraged positive relations between Management and Unions.


Union leadership references include Robert (Bob) Martinez, International President, IAM, Johnny Rodriguez, International VP, UFCW, and David Dudas, Director/Chairman, Teamsters National Bakery & Laundry Division, and Teamsters Local 52 Secretary Treasurer/Principal Officer.  Mike McMillion, Retired FMCS Commissioner also is a reference.
